Makara:

Saturn is the Lagna lord of Makara Lagna. Saturn’s Sasa effect can be seen when Saturn is in Lagna, and in exaltation in the
10^th house. 

Saturn’s own houses are Makara and Kumbha, and of these, Makara is Chara Lagna.

There is a general rule that, compared to the other 2, Chara Rasis are very strong and the planets in Chara Rasi are powerful.

But for Thula Lagna, Saturn is the fully functional benefic planet.

By being in exaltation in Lagna and by being in the 4^th house, Saturn gives Sasa Yoga effects to Thula Lagna.

Saturn by being in the 4^th house (in exaltation) and in the
7^th house (ruling status), gives Sasa Yoga effects to Cancer Lagna.

Generally, Ashtamathipathi getting exaltation is not good for any Lagna.

That too Saturn here occupies the Suka Sthana (4^th house), thereby giving a long life but other than that gives many disturbances in other good benefits of the 4^th house.

Some astrologers say it is good to have an exalted Saturn in the birth chart, and the children born with Saturn’s exaltation are very lucky.

It is false.

 

If it is true that all exalted planets do good, the Rishis would not have separated the planets as benefic and malefic.

They would not have segregated the planets Karakathva as good and bad. Instead, they would have said in a few lines that the exalted planets are beneficial. 

Our Maharishis have never said anywhere that the powerful planets give good benefits to mankind.

They have clearly said, a powerful planet will powerfully give its Karakathva.

In the last chapter, we discussed the inner-circle planets Moon, Venus, and Mercury, as well as Mars which is in the outer-circle. Now we can see Jupiter and Saturn’s distance and their point/kala.

The largest planet in the solar system is Jupiter which takes 12 years to rotate Sun.

Jyothish Sastras and texts say Jupiter is the prime natural benefic planet.

It is in the distance of 77.80 crore km from the Sun and it is 3 times far away as compared to Mars’ distance.

Jupiter is at a distance of 62 crore km from the Earth. Despite this distance, Jupiter’s point/kala is 10 on the Earth i.e., 33.3% of the Sun’s.

The basic sutras in Vedic astrology are known to only rishis and sages.

For example, why the Rasi Mandala is divided into 12 parts, and why it is not in 18 parts? No one can answer this question and this is beyond our questioning power.

Likewise, from inception, it is taught Jupiter is a benefic and Saturn is malefic. Only Yogis know the reason.

Similarly, they only know, how the benefic and malefic sequence is formed like benefic - Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, waxing Moon, malefic - Saturn, and Mars.

They have a strong reason why this categorization should not be in reverse.
