Amongst the twelve ascendants, Chandra is known to give favourable results to the seven, namely, Mesha, Kataka, Simha, Tula, Vrischik, Dhanus and Meena.
As he happens to be the owner of 4th house for Mesha, when he is in the 4th house he also attains digbala(directional strength) giving him a double power. Natives born in Mesha rasi with this arrangement, will gain benefits during Chandra dasa with respect to house, vehicle, mother and education.
As Chandra is the significator of mother, natives born with
strong Chandra would shower lots of love on their mothers. Especially, natives
born with Chandra either in Kataka ,its own house or Rishaba, in its uccha(exaltation)position or
in Vrischik, when in neechabanga(neutralization of debilitation) are immensely
attached to their mothers and display lots of love and devotion.
As he happens to be the lagnadhipathi(ascendant lord) for
Kataka ascendants, when in own house, uccha(exaltation), Kendra(angular),
Kona(trinal)positions he wouldl bestow beneficial effects to the natives during
his dasa. In this arrangement, the status and reputation of the natives gets
higher during the dasa of Chandra. Chandra sitting in Poosam(Pushyam) star
owned by Sani, gives an added benefit of involvement in spirituality.
As Chandra is the owner of 12th house for Simha, the
house indicating spending and travel, when placed in this house and during his
dasa the native would be made to travel offshore to countries abroad and would
bestow good livelihood through that.
As Chandra happens to own the 10th house or in
other words is the karmadhipathi(significator for profession) for natives born with
Tula ascendant, when other planets are also in subha(beneficial)position, the
native would become an enterpreneur. He would be instrumental in giving gains
in tune of crores of rupees through liquids. Most of the liquor barons have
been born with ascendant in Tula and
have been able to climb up the ladder due to Chandra.
At the same time, Chandra attaining uccha(exaltation) does
not benefit the natives with Simha and Tula ascendants. As uccha(exaltation)
for Simha would mean that he would occupy the 10th house and as he
happens to be the 12th lord
or significator for loss, this will lead to loss of career.
Also for Tula, he being the 10th lord or karmadhipathi(significator
of profession), when attaining uccha(exaltation) would mean that he gets hidden
in 8th place and since it means that there is no career when karmadhipathi is affected, this arrangement
also does not offer good results.
While being the bhagyadhipathi( significator for good luck)
for natives with Vrsichik ascendants, as he also happens to be the
badakadhipathi(significator of obstruction), a waxing Chandra in 9th house as the owner without the
aspect of any papa(malefic) planets or attaining uccha(exaltation) in 7th
house will not yield beneficial results. At the same time a waning Chandra or the
one aspected by malefics will not give bad effects.
For Dhanus ascendant, he is the ashtamadhipathi (owner of 8th
house). As Surya and Chandra has been
told to not have ashtamadhipathiya dosha(unfavourable effects due to ownership
of 8th house), if Chandra is a suba(benefic), then during his dasa
he would bless the native with a foreign citizenship. He would also facilitate
a good career and enterpreneurship
abroad.
As the owner for 5th house for Meena ascendant,
he is the complete subar(benefic) and
hence attaining uccha(exaltation) or
ownership will give excellent benefits. When strong, he would give rich
benefits through his significations like liquids, vegetables, white objects and
perishables.
As the marakadhipathi(significator of death)for the only
left out ascendant, Rishaba and also since its owner, Sukra, considers him to
be his enemy, a strong Chandra does not provide beneficial results to its
natives. On the contrary, when connected with the subars(benefics) of
ascendant, he would give beneficial results.
Mithuna’s lord Budha is the son of Chandra. Their
relationship is strange, in a sense that while Chandra would be friendly with
Budha showering motherly affection, on the contrary Budha considers mother
Chandra as his enemy.
As per the
rule that the enemies of lagna(ascendant) lord should not become powerful than
the lagna lord himself, Chandra positioned in his own 2nd house or
uccha(exalted) in 12th house for natives of Mithuna ascendant does
not fetch good results. The same ideology and inference apply to Kanya
ascendants as well, as Budha is the lord of Kanya.
Next, when we consider Makara, he is the
marakadhipathi(significator of death) being the owner of 7th house
and also since Sani considers Surya and Chandra as his bitter enemies, when he
is in waxing phase and is placed in the 7th house all alone, he
would deliver only malefic effects due to Kendradhipathiyadosha(defect arising
due to ownership of angular houses). Being in uccha(exaltation) also does not
give great results.
Finally, he owns the 6th house for Kumbha
ascendant. As he also happens to be the enemy of the ascendant lord Sani,
during his dasa if he were in own house or in
uccha(exaltation) house, he would give ill health and debts. When in
uccha(exalted) he would affect house, vehicle and status of mother. It is hence
preferable that for Kumbha ascendants, Chandra either occupies Vrischik ina
neechabanga (neutralized state of debilitation)state or in the 6th
place from 6th house Dhanus, viz. in 3rd house to give
favourable results.
Apart from Rahu and
Kethu, Chandra never becomes vakra(retrogression) due to Surya unlike the other
Panchabootha(five elemental) planets. Also, he does not become
asthangatha(combust) when getting closer to Surya. The phase when Chandra gets closer to Surya
is called Amavasya.
When we look into the finer aspects of uccha(exaltation) of
Chandra in Rishaba, it is clear that Chandra attains uccha(exalted)status only
in the first 3 degrees of Rishaba. In the remaining 27 degrees he has a
Mooltrikona status.
Similarly when neecha(debilitated) in Vrischik, he would be
neecha(debilitated) only in the first 3 degrees of Vrischik. Hence, precise
determination of neecha(debilitation) of Chandra should be made only by
studying the degree in which he is placed.
As Chandra is the significator of mind, his conjunction with
Sani or Rahu is not beneficial. His conjunction with Sani is termed as
“Punarpoo yoga” in our scriptures. In this combination only when Sani is in
subathuva(beneficial) or attained beneficiation in accordance with my
sookshma(finer)strength theory, will he give a spiritual inclination to the
native and make him accomplish in
spirituality.
On the other hand, if Sani has attained
papathuva(maleficience) and is very close to Chandra, the native would be
argumentative and the one who believes that he is always correct, alienating
himself from others, becomes suspicious and considers himself inferior. Hence,
most often the conjunction of Sani and Chandra does not yield good results.
The conjunction of Rahu with Chandra also more like an eclipse. When an illuminated
planet is approached by a striking darkness, the light is bound to be
“swallowed”, in the same sense, the strength of Chandra will come down when
conjoined with Rahu.
When Chandra conjoins Rahu, depending on their proximity,
the native would be indecisive, unable to judge others, overestimating about
self and be with an unstable mind. As Chandra is the significator of mind and
body, this combination would affect the physical and/or mental wellbeing of the
native during the Chandra and Rahu dasas and bhuktis(sub periods).
Another important concept of “Indu lagna” , a very special
aspect in any horoscope, as proposed by Great Kalidasa, is also formulated
based on Chandra.
The word “Indu” means Chandra. I
have briefly described about this method earlier. Barring Rahu and Kethu, the
remaining 7 planets have been assigned some numbers totaling to 120 called as
“Grahakala parimanam( a measure of Planetary luminescence)” by Kalidasa. Indu lagna would be determined by calculating
from 9th house from ascendant and rasi. Chandra is also the lord of
Indu lagna.
Is Sakata(Wheel) yoga good or bad?
Amongst the yogas due to Chandra, our scriptures indicate Sakata(Chakra or
Wheel) yoga to be a significant one.
In any horoscope when Chandra is placed in houses, 6th,
8th or 12th to Guru then it is called as Sakata yoga.
The Sanskrit word “Sakatam” means the Wheel. As the wheel
does not stay in one place, the wheel of life of the native with this yoga will
always keep moving upward and downward.
Generally, Sakata yoga does not give beneficial results. The
native having this yoga will always face upward and downward trends in life.
But when Chandra is in 6th house from Guru, he would be in 8th
house from Chandra, this will lead to “Adhiyoga” and in turn become beneficial
to the native. There are such exceptions to Sakata yoga.
Also when Chandra or Guru are in 6-8 and are either in own
house, uccha(exaltation) or in parivartana(mutual exchange), it would indicate
Raja Sakata Yoga or Kalyana Sakata Yoga indicating beneficial alignments.
For example, when Chandra is in Dhanu and Guru in Kataka or
Chandra in Rishaba and Guru in Dhanu, will result in Raja Sakata Yoga or
Kalyana Sakata Yoga and would bestow favourable results as indicated by our
sages.
